The DWRC started the first half strong and quickly took advantage of the vast space on the outside. The forwards integrated themselves into the backline to provide significant overloads on the outside. Great supporting efforts and big breaks on the wings made for huge territory gains for Dartmouth. In the first five minutes of the game, the DWRC took advantage of one of these large gains as Emily Reeves ’15 put a try in after a few short vertical attacks. Both teams struggled with knock-ons and other handling issues throughout the half. Rookie Audrey Perez ’17 muscled through the Bowdoin defense and evaded their fullback to score a second try for Dartmouth. A few minutes later fullback Diana Wise ’15 had a long carry but was stopped a few meters short of the try line. Taylor Hummel ’14 provided phenomenal support and pick and jammed into the try zone.
In the second half, Perez ’17 showed off her shifty moves again and scored a try between the uprights. Michaela Conway ’15 converted the try to make it 22-0 Dartmouth. Dartmouth players were aggressive in the rucks forcing Bowdoin to commit a few penalties. The ball fell into the hands of Wise ’15 as a result of a quick blindside sweep and she ran it in for another try. In the last 10 minutes of the game, Dartmouth struggled with penalties in the red zone and Bowdoin finally broke through for a try in the center. Dartmouth answered minutes later with a try in the far corner by Pallavi Kuppa-Apte ‘14 to finish the game 32-5!
